Frustrated that you're not reading enough?

You don't have time to browse libraries or bookstores to choose a book and sit down to read. Flamingo delivers the book directly to your inbox, allowing you to take a 10 to 15 minute literary break every day. It's a minimalist commitment that builds a real reading habit, day after day.

The book is selected from among the vast number of works in the public domain and then divided into short episodes of a few paragraphs. All you have to do is check your email every day, find a quiet spot, and read your episode. The author and title will remain secret until the end.

All subscribers will receive the same work at the same pace and at the same time to foster a sense of community. Read slowly. Read together. Rediscover forgotten literary treasures written by real people.

But what exactly is Flamingo?

Flamingo is a daily newsletter that introduces you to a literary work in the public domain every one to two months.

The book will be briefly presented to you before its launch, but without naming the author or title, in order to add a touch of mystery to this literary adventure. They will, of course, be revealed at the end of the book, after the last episode has been sent.

If you enjoyed the work, you will have the option to download a copy in epub or PDF format. This will allow you to reread and share the work with your loved ones.

Here's what your daily episode will look like when it arrives in your inbox:

How do I sign up to become a flamingo?

Registration for a work is done on this site using a online form and until a deadline after which registration will be open for the next work.

The first episode of a work will be sent to everyone on the same day so that the entire community can discover the work at the same time and at the same pace.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of the email. However, it will not be possible to subscribe to receive episodes of a work that is currently being sent out. Future subscribers will therefore have to wait for the next work to be sent out before joining this literary adventure.

During the broadcast of the current work, another work will be presented and open for registration. Those who are already registered do not need to re-register to receive episodes of future works. Unless you have unsubscribed in the meantime.

A community spirit

The idea is to bring the discovery of a literary work in the public domain to life for all subscribers at the same time, in order to encourage discussion. I invite you to share your impressions of the work via your favorite social networks, using the hashtag #flamingoNewsletter.

The first 300 subscriptions are free

The Flamingo newsletter has limited capacity. It can accommodate up to 300 free subscriptions. Sending more than 300 emails per day would exceed what I am willing to pay out of my own pocket. That said, I think this will be more than enough to start with. If demand ever exceeds 300 people, there will always be time to come up with a way to monetize the newsletter to ensure its financial sustainability.
